What to expect
The evaluation process is designed to be thorough, clear, and as stress-free as possible for you and your child. Here is what a typical evaluation looks like from start to finish:
Step 1 — Initial Consultation
We start with a 15-minute phone or video call so you can share your concerns and I can learn a bit about your child. This is also a chance for you to ask questions and make sure this is the right fit for your family. There is no charge for this initial conversation.
Step 2 — Intake Interview
Before any testing begins, we schedule a detailed interview — just you (and any other caregivers). This is where I learn your child's full history: development, medical background, school history, and the specific questions you want answered. This session typically lasts 60–90 minutes. This can be done over telehealth or in-person based on your preference. I will request caregivers to complete questionnaires based on the concerns they share.

Step 3 — Testing Session(s)
Your child comes in for one or more testing sessions, where they work one-on-one with me on a variety of tasks and activities. These are not like school tests — there are no grades, and many children find them interesting. Your child will get breaks as needed.

Step 4 — Scoring and Analysis
After testing, I carefully score and analyze all the results. I review any records (school reports, prior evaluations, medical notes), and details you provided. I may consult with other adults that work with your child (teacher, therapist) if needed. This information is used to write a comprehensive report.

Step 5 — Feedback Session and Report
We meet over telehealth or in person — with or without your child, depending on their age and your preference — to go through the findings and results together. I walk you through the results in plain language, explain what they mean for your child's day-to-day life, and make sure you leave with a clear understanding of next steps. You will receive a written copy of the full report following this meeting.
This is a general overview of the evaluation process—every family’s experience may not be exactly like this. My aim is to be flexible and meet you where you are to make the evaluation feel like a successful experience for you and your child.
